Upper GI Endoscopy in Northwich, Cheshire

Direct visualisation of the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum accurate, swift, and available at our Northwich, Cheshire clinic locations.
Endoscopy Manchester

An upper gastrointestinal endoscopy also known as a gastroscopy allows Dr Lekharaju to directly examine the lining of the oesophagus, stomach, and the first section of the small bowel (duodenum). A slim, flexible camera is passed gently through the mouth under local anaesthetic throat spray or light sedation. It is the most accurate investigation for symptoms including persistent heartburn, difficulty swallowing, unexplained nausea, upper abdominal pain, and suspected peptic ulcer disease.

The procedure typically takes between 10 and 20 minutes. Tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken during the same appointment if required for example to test for H. pylori infection or to investigate any areas of concern. A clear, written report is provided the same day, with findings explained directly to you before you leave the clinic.
