Frequently asked

Good questions to ask

Do I need a GP referral?

No, but if you have one it is helpful. Dr Lekharaju is happy to see self-referred patients directly. If your insurer requires a referral letter, your GP can usually provide one quickly.

How quickly can I be seen?

New patient appointments are usually available within 5–7 days, and often sooner. Remote consultations can frequently be arranged within 48 hours for patients unable to attend in person.

Will I need an endoscopy?

Not always. Many gastrointestinal conditions can be diagnosed and managed without procedures. Where an endoscopy or colonoscopy is indicated, Dr Lekharaju will discuss exactly why, what to expect, and how to prepare.

Are appointments confidential?

Absolutely. Everything discussed is private. Information is only shared with your GP or other treating clinicians with your explicit consent, in line with GMC guidance on good medical practice.

How are results delivered?

By telephone or secure email, usually within 7–10 days of any procedure or investigation, alongside a written clinical summary. Dr Lekharaju will always ensure you understand what the results mean.

What if I need ongoing care?

Most patients benefit from a planned follow-up appointment. Dr Lekharaju will agree the right review interval for your condition — so you are monitored appropriately without unnecessary appointments.
